Whisky John's Brooklin

First visit here was very good, we sat on their enlarged patio . I enjoyed very good crab cakes as an appetizer and a good generous portion of perfectly cooked salmon for my entree. Our entire group was satisfied with our meals . Service was very good and our server knew when to ask us if we needed refills. Otherwise a great evening. Good to see a great place like this in our community. Enjoy their free WI-Fi.

My daughter and friend have been coming here for a while and loves it, food , atmosphere, service, very friendly. She brought us today and it’s absolutely fabulous. Food is fresh and delicious and you want fresh when having seafood. Will definitely be coming back cuz there is so much on the menu we will want to try.

Edits — 22nd March 2021 Changing the review rating from 3 to 4 stars. I visited Whisky John’s on 6th March, this was my first dine in experience here. Due to my previous complaint on 14th feb, the restaurant manager Chelsea took some time in reading my review and sharing the concern on customer feedback, not all managers are great. She offered me some credit to use in future . When I called in for dine in reservation, I am not certain if it was Chelsea over the phone but she remembered my name from the complaint and she remembered offering me credit (this is an very important- they just did not offer credit, but they did remember the complaint, and who the complaint for - this was very much surprising and I totally liked it). When I reached there, there were proper safety protocols followed, our server (unfortunately due to the very late post, I could not remember her name) was very nice, she was engaging, taking care from time to time to make sure we have everything we need. It was my first dine in experience in months after the lockdown and it was truly amazing. The food ordered was awesome , the taste is never to be complained of - I ordered jalapeño cheese poppers (trust me, if you have not tried this until now it is a must try you will definitely get foodgasm if you love cheese), kettle cooked nacho chips and chef’s special on that day (it was eggplant based creamy pasta), I am not an eggplant lover but still I enjoyed the dish (although not 100% recommended if you don’t like eggplant but it was not that we could not eat or enjoy it yet, we just left aside the eggplant and enjoyed our meal). The one thing missing was music, when I visit a place, I like the music playing in the background which was a missing piece for me here, overall good experience! ——— Edits - 14th Feb 2021 Changing the review rating from 5 to 3 stars. Tonight was Valentine’s Day and we were looking for some special Valentine’s dine in options and as it had been an amazing experience with Whisky John’s the past few times, so I was hoping the specials to be good too. So I ordered ‘Valentine’s Steak and Shrimp’ which had steak, couple of shrimps, some veggies and mashed potatoes. First off, it was expensive for the food portion. Second of all, the taste was not so great and finally mashed potatoes were missing in it! Yeah, missing!! I understand that it’s a busy day for the restaurants but well we are also counting on restaurants to make our day special, don’t we? And if that’s not fulfilled, then what’s the point ? I would say - never trust on specials maybe? Or rather never trust ordering on special days? ——— 9th Feb 2021

One of the best wings I've had since moving to Durham. The servers were wonderful and the owner was attentive. We went to the Brooklin location. This will be a continuous spot for us. The gentleman that runs the establishment is attentive, appreciative and goes above and beyond for his customer. A simple mention of someone's birthday and he puts a birthday message on the screen. He takes part in every aspect of his business, whether it's working in the kitchen, taking and serving orders or just simply checking in with guests. Phenomenal service, amazing atmosphere, great food and great staff! Highly recommended!!!!!!

It's patio season and the place to be is Whisky John's. Have yet another very yummy meal with my family. No complaints at all. Service, food and atmosphere are 5 star. We will be back!

Tried out Whisky John's in Brooklin tonight and I'm so glad I did. I had called ahead to see if they had a table for 7 with 3 kids and they said yes. When we got there they had just filled the restaurant. Said it wouldn't be long(10-15 minutes) we had no problem waiting. They said it was the busiest they have been since they were allowed dine in. Mike was our server (he's also the manager). He was super kind and welcoming. Our apps and main meals came fast. He was attentive even though they were busy. Lots of tvs, great atmosphere. The alcoholic drink menu was great! We ordered calamari, french onion soup and small Greek salad to start. I've got to say, everything tasted amazing!!! The Greek salad is the best I've ever had. The kids loved the calamari. I had the spinach dip with chips and pita it was so creamy and everything was so fresh. Also pictured is the lemon pepper shrimp, pulled pork poutine and the spinach dip. All staff were kind! Mike was very nice to the kids and thanked them for handing him the plates. We will definitely be back to try other dishes!! Thanks Mike for a great first impression.

Got the 1/2 price wings with nachos Drinks were good, service was good but the wings were perfection!! Server recommended pineapple curry wings and they were absolutely delicious. Wish I wasn't full and could indulge in another lb of wings
